Ganja, liquor found in police vehicle shows Andhra law and order deteriorating: Jagan Reddy
Amravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], August 17 (ANI): Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday alleged that the finding of ganja and liquor bottles in a vehicle carrying two police sub-inspectors showed the deteriorating law and order situation in the State.
Reddy questioned the State government over the incident at Sankhavarappadu in Addanki Mandal of Prakasam district and sought an impartial investigation into the matter.
He said that the incident could not be dismissed as an isolated case and accused the government of misusing institutions for political vendetta and other interests.
In a post on X, Reddy wrote, "Hey Ram...! If ganja and liquor bottles are found in the very vehicle of police personnel who are supposed to prevent the illegal transportation of ganja and liquor, what more evidence is needed to show how badly the situation in the State has deteriorated? Chandrababu garu... where exactly are you taking the State? If illegal activities are taking place within the very police system that is supposed to protect the people, and through the very machinery that is meant to prevent such offences, whom should the people trust? To whom should they complain?"

Reddy alleged that a car carrying two SIs collided with an auto after being driven by a driver allegedly under the influence of alcohol, leaving those travelling in the auto seriously injured.
He said that after the accident, people gathered at the spot and found the two SIs in an intoxicated condition, while ganja, liquor and a police uniform were allegedly found in the boot of the car.
He further alleged that another CI who reached the spot threatened people against recording videos of the incident and said cases would be filed against them.
"Against this backdrop, a car in which two SIs were travelling was driven by a driver under the influence of alcohol and collided with an auto, leaving those travelling in the auto seriously injured. After the accident, people surrounded the car. The two SIs in the car were also found to be in an intoxicated condition, while ganja, liquor and a police uniform were found in the boot of the car. When the people present there themselves turned into journalists, recorded videos of what had happened and tried to bring the facts before the public, another CI who reached the spot threatened them, saying, "Don't take videos; we will file cases." This shows the level to which things have deteriorated under your rule. Is exposing the truth a crime? Is questioning wrongdoing an offence?" the post read.
Reddy alleged that local TDP leaders helped the two police officers escape from the spot and questioned whether police cases and investigations across the state could be conducted impartially in such circumstances.
He urged the state government to order an impartial investigation and take action against those responsible, irrespective of their position.
"The information that these two police officers organised private parties where liquor and ganja were used, and that several TDP leaders participated in those parties, is even more shocking. The allegations that local TDP leaders helped the two police officers escape from the scene are also extremely serious. This incident exposes how deep the nexus between ruling-party leaders and a system that is supposed to function impartially has become. In such circumstances, can anyone believe that everything from the registration of cases to investigations at police stations across the State is being conducted impartially? Do not use your media strength to cover up this incident as well. Do not divert the issue. Order an impartial investigation and take action against those responsible, irrespective of who they are," the post further read. (ANI)
