Delhi Police bust fake logistics fraud; two arrested, 10 cyber complaints linked

New Delhi [India], September 30 (ANI): Delhi Police's Cyber Police Station in South District has busted an alleged fake logistics service fraud with the arrest of two persons who allegedly impersonated representatives of logistics companies and duped customers by promising truck-booking services, officials said.
The accused have been identified as Aman, 19, a delivery boy from Ghaziabad, and Narender Kumar, a delivery boy from Kapashera, police said.
According to police, an e-FIR was registered at Cyber Police Station, South, on September 5 after a complainant was allegedly induced to make an advance payment for arranging a truck. However, the promised vehicle was never provided.
Police said that following registration of the case, teams conducted technical surveillance and analysed the financial trail linked to the transaction.
The investigation led to the arrest of Aman on September 24. Four mobile phones were recovered from his possession, police said.
During interrogation, Aman allegedly disclosed the involvement of another person, following which police arrested co-accused Narender Kumar from Kapashera. Another mobile phone was recovered from him, officials said.
Police also recovered incriminating WhatsApp chats allegedly exchanged between the two accused, which investigators are examining as part of the probe.
According to investigators, the accused allegedly used online business directories and platform listings to identify individuals and businesses looking for transportation services.
They allegedly posed as representatives of established logistics companies and contacted prospective customers offering truck-booking and transportation services. The victims were allegedly asked to make advance payments to secure the vehicles.
After receiving the money, the accused allegedly failed to provide the promised trucks or return the payments, police said.
Further analysis of the digital and financial trail led investigators to identify nine additional complaints registered on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP), involving a total alleged loss of Rs 1,53,010.
Including the original case, 10 cyber-fraud complaints involving an alleged total amount of Rs 2,56,560 have so far been linked to the accused, police said.
A total of five mobile phones have been recovered from the two accused, along with digital evidence including WhatsApp conversations, police said.
Investigators are analysing the recovered devices and financial transactions to establish the complete network, identify additional victims and determine whether other persons were involved in the alleged fraud.
