“Marks end of politics of falsehood”: Delhi Minister Ashish Sood on PM Surya Ghar portal launch

New Delhi [India], September 21 (ANI): Launching a sharp counter-offensive against the opposition, Delhi Minister Ashish Sood on Monday asserted that the launch of the dedicated PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana portal marks the "end of the politics of falsehood," demonstrating that the government has not only retained free power benefits in the capital but also enabled households to earn regular income through rooftop solar energy.
Speaking on the launch, Sood said the initiative not only ensures the continuation of zero-bill electricity for consumers but also empowers residents with an avenue to generate monthly income through rooftop solar energy.
"The Chief Minister has launched the portal for the 'PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana'. This launch marks the end of the politics of falsehood that had been propagated in Delhi over the past few years," Sood told reporters here.
Taking a swipe at previous political claims, the minister noted that misinformation had been circulated prior to elections regarding the future of power subsidies.
"Before the elections, malicious propaganda was spread claiming that if the BJP government came to power, the free electricity scheme would be discontinued. Not only have we continued the free electricity scheme, but we have also provided the people of Delhi with a means to generate income—ranging from Rs 293 to Rs 2,400—alongside receiving free electricity for twenty-five years through the solar panels installed on their rooftops," he said.
Emphasising the long-term benefits of the technology-driven initiative, Sood said, "This technology-driven initiative opens up avenues for both free electricity and earnings; it serves as a fitting reply to those who levelled accusations against the BJP and marks the beginning of the fulfilment of the PM's guarantee."
Under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, eligible households are provided with subsidies to install rooftop solar units, reducing their dependence on conventional power grids and enabling them to sell surplus energy back to the grid. 
Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday announced the launch of a portal for residents to register under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, under which the Delhi government will bear the entire cost of installing solar panels up to 3 kW capacity.
Gupta said solar panels will be installed on 2.25 lakh homes on a first-come, first-served basis, describing the initiative as a major step towards promoting green energy in the national capital.
"This is a moment of great joy and can be considered a major achievement of the 'double-engine' government in Delhi—led by the PM—which will directly benefit the people of Delhi," she said. (ANI)
