Rajasthan targets 125 GW renewable capacity by 2030, seeks investments to accelerate clean energy expansion

New Delhi [India], August 24 (ANI): Rajasthan is targeting 125 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, with around 50 GW already installed, as the state looks to attract developers and investors and India works towards its 500 GW clean energy target, officials and industry representatives said at the B2B Roadshow for BRE Summit and Expo 2026.
Rajesh Kulhari, Joint Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), said the roadshow provides an opportunity for states to showcase their capabilities and attract investments in renewable energy. "It is a good platform and a good opportunity to show our capabilities and expertise to the developers and to learn from them," he said.
Highlighting Rajasthan's investment potential, Kulhari said the state already has a wind blade industry in Jaisalmer and several module manufacturing plants. He said developers, investors and policymakers can use the platform to interact and understand the state's ease of doing business.
"Rajasthan can also showcase that come to us and invest here. We will help you in ease of doing business," Kulhari said, adding that state pavilions and dedicated cabins at the summit would provide an avenue to present investment opportunities.
He said the roadshow series has started from Rajasthan and will subsequently cover Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Chennai. The initiative is also expected to bring international participation, including experts working on green hydrogen from Europe, Japan and the US.
Kulhari said Rajasthan and other states with strong renewable energy potential need greater participation from developers and investors to accelerate capacity creation. He also highlighted the ministry's engagement with the industry, saying MNRE holds monthly discussions with solar manufacturers, developers, wind industry players and other stakeholders to address their concerns and take policy decisions.
Ravi Verma, Member, Governing Council, Sustainable Projects Development Association, said India has already crossed around 300 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity and remains on track to reach its 500 GW target by 2030.
"We have 300 gigawatts, and we want to reach 500 gigawatts by 2030," Verma said. He added that India could potentially exceed the target with continued support from state governments and central government policies.
"We think we can reach more than 500 gigawatts if we get support from the Rajasthan government and central government policies. We are on the right track," he said.
Verma also pointed to schemes such as PM Surya Ghar and PM-KUSUM as opportunities to expand renewable energy deployment and strengthen access to power. (ANI)
