Washington [US], August 22 (ANI): Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's 18-year-old daughter, Vivienne, has taken another formal step towards legally dropping "Pitt" from her surname, publishing a public notice in the Los Angeles Daily Journal as part of California's name-change process.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six, Vivienne published the notice once a week for four consecutive weeks, from July 24 through August 14. The notice asks anyone opposing her petition to submit a written opposition before the final hearing.
Vivienne's next court hearing is scheduled for November 2. A judge can approve the requested name change if no one objects.
The newspaper notice is one of the requirements under California's legal name-change process.
Vivienne filed the petition in July, seeking to change her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. In court documents obtained by Page Six, she cited "personal" as the reason for the requested change.
The name Marcheline is also significant to Vivienne's family. Marcheline Bertrand was Jolie's mother and died in 2007 following a battle with ovarian and breast cancer.
Vivienne had already used the name "Vivienne Jolie" publicly in 2024 while working with her mother on the Broadway adaptation of 'The Outsiders'. Her name appeared that way in the production's 'Playbill.'
She is one of six children of Pitt and Jolie: Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 20, and 18-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
Vivienne's legal move follows similar steps to those taken by some of her siblings.
Page Six reported last month that Zahara and Maddox also published notices in the Los Angeles Daily Journal as part of the state's name-change requirements. Zahara has a September 28 court hearing scheduled, while Maddox's next hearing is currently unknown.
Shiloh was the first of the siblings to legally remove Pitt from her surname, doing so on her 18th birthday.
It was reported in June 2024 that she "hired her own lawyer and paid for it herself."
Pitt and Jolie, who split in 2016, were declared legally single in 2019 after years of legal proceedings. They finalised their divorce settlement in December 2024.
Earlier this month, Pitt spoke about the emotional toll of dealing with "family stuff" in an interview, as reported by Page Six.
Reflecting on that period, he said he felt "suicidal" and recalled, "The pain was so oppressive that... I wasn't going to act on this, but I could feel... I could feel the cold steel of the bullet in my head, and it felt like relief."
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie met on the 'Mr and Mrs Smith' set in 2004, causing a major Hollywood scandal.
Over the next decade, they raised six children, became global humanitarians, and officially married in France in 2014.
Jolie filed for divorce in 2016 following a private plane dispute. They became legally single in 2019, but prolonged custody and winery lawsuits delayed their final divorce settlement until December 2024. (ANI)
