Dolly Parton shares health update, says “dealing with some health issues” while announcing Nashville museum

Los Angeles [US], August 22 (ANI): Country music icon Dolly Parton has shared an update on her health, saying she has been dealing with some health issues while continuing to work on multiple projects, including a new museum celebrating her life in Nashville, according to People.
Parton, 80, told People that she had been through "hard times with my health" recently, adding that she did not pay enough attention to her own well-being while caring for her late husband Carl Thomas Dean, who died in March 2025 at the age of 82.
"I am dealing with some health issues that I just didn't pay attention to when I was watching over Carl," Parton said.
Recalling her previous health struggles, the singer said she had faced similar challenges in the past, including a period in the early 1980s when she was "down for several months with female issues."
"It's not like I haven't been through hard times with my health. But I think because we live in a 24/7 world with social media, everything gets magnified in ways it wasn't years ago," she said.
Parton added that despite her ongoing recovery, she remains committed to her work, as per the outlet.
"I used to joke that I was the Queen of the Tabloids, but now I guess I can say I'm the Queen of Social Media AI! Seriously, though, even though I'm still healin', I'm still workin'," she said.
The update came after Parton appeared through a video message instead of attending the opening of Dollywood's new ride, NightFlight Expedition, in person. She said her doctors had advised her against travelling due to health concerns.
"I've told you before, all my fans, that I've had a few little health issues and sometimes I get a little dizzy and I get dehydrated. And I'm dehydrated," Parton said.
"So my Nashville doctor has kind of clipped my wings, saying, 'You ain't travelling this week.' So I guess if your doctor tells you, 'You ain't travelling this week,' you ain't travelling this week," she added, according to People.
Alongside her health update, Parton announced plans for her upcoming Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville, which will showcase her journey, career and personal stories. The museum is described as the "largest exhibit celebrating her life anywhere in the world."
Parton said the idea came after she found a suitable location in downtown Nashville, where her upcoming SongTeller Hotel will also open its doors in September 2026.
"I am so proud of this. We found this location early one morning. I knew I wanted to do something special in Nashville, and until I saw this building, nothing ever hit me as the right thing to do," she said.
"I saw a copy of my book Songteller in the lobby of what once was this office building. After touring it and seeing the location, I knew this was it. I wanted to join all my Nashville friends downtown, but I didn't just want it to be another bar. So we found a way to bring in my museum on the third floor and make it really special," she added.
Parton is also working on other projects, including a new line of dog treats with Purina and the launch of Cup of Ambition Coffee in partnership with Community Coffee.
Speaking about the coffee brand, inspired by her famous song "9 to 5", Parton said, "That's a dream I've had for over 40 years, ever since I wrote the line about 'cup of ambition' in my song '9 to 5.' But, you know, some dreams take longer to come to life than others."
She said Cup of Ambition Coffee is expected to be available online for nationwide shipping from September, according to People.
Parton's new Dollywood attraction NightFlight Expedition was recently unveiled as the park's 11th coaster and the largest single attraction investment in the amusement park's history, according to a statement from Dollywood. (ANI)
