Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 2 (ANI): National Award-winning actor Pavan Malhotra has shared his views on the debate around political films in Indian cinema, saying that movies based on certain subjects often receive different reactions depending on who makes them.
While speaking to ANI, the political films are often judged differently depending on who makes them. He spoke about the differing reactions such films receive, suggesting that movies dealing with similar themes are not always viewed through the same lens.
According to him, while some sections are allowed to present their perspectives freely, others face backlash for doing so.
"...there is one section. If they make it, then it's fine. If the other one makes it, then it's a problem. Or if you tell them that you are making an anti-India film, they will say, 'No, we were talking about one side,'" he added.
The two-time National Award winner also hailed the recent blockbuster spy thriller 'Dhurandhar' as an "amazing film" claiming that anyone who believes the events shown in the movie are incorrect should come forward and challenge them.
"Dhurandhar is an amazing film. The film has shown so many things; try denying them. Are the things that have been shown in the film false in any way? If so, then come forward and challenge them," he told ANI.
The actor also spoke about 'The Kashmir Files,' saying that those who call the film false are refusing to accept what happened.
"If you think The Kashmir Files is a lie, then in my view, either you are a fool or you are refusing to accept the truth. It happened right in front of you. It happened right in front of you."
Pavan Malhotra is one of Indian cinema's most respected actors and has worked across Hindi, Punjabi and Telugu films, as well as television. The two-time National Award winner is known for his performances in films such as 'Black Friday,' 'Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro' and the acclaimed web series 'Tabbar.' (ANI)
