Delhi HC grants bail to passenger accused of robbing rapido driver after one year of custody

New Delhi [India], July 20 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Monday granted bail to a passenger accused of robbing a Rapido driver of Rs 600 and a mobile phone at gunpoint. The accused was in custody for a period of more than a year.
As per the FIR of June 4, 2025, lodged at Timar Pur Police Station, the accused, Fareed Kaha alias Javed, booked a rapido ride and robbed the driver after showing him a country-made pistol.
Justice Manoj Jain granted bail to Fareed Kaha after considering the period of custody and finding his conduct in jail satisfactory.
" The applicant is directed to be released on bail on his furnishing personal bond in a sum of Rs 25,000 with one local surety of like amount, subject to the satisfaction of the learned Trial Court," Justice Jain ordered on July 20.
As per the case of the prosecution, on June 4, 2025, a complaint was received and the complainant, a rapido driver, stated that, two days prior, he had taken a booking and the passenger took out a katta and threatened him and robbed away Rs 600 in cash along with his mobile phone and also threatened him to transfer more money vide online transfer.
Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) for State, on instructions from Investigation Officer, submitted that the statment of the concerned complainant has already been recorded by the court.
While granting bail to Fareed, the High Court directed him to furnish local surety; he shall not try to contact any witness, directly or indirectly; he shall furnish a mobile number to the concerned investigation officer on which he can be contacted, if required. Such number shall remain operational and functional.
The Residential address of the applicant and proposed surety shall be verified before releasing him on bail, the High Court ordered. (ANI)
